2000 280 ss holding tank issues

I have a 2000 280 ss with a Jabsco toilet. The holding tank has always been discharged overboard out at sea. We have never needed to pump out the waste at a pumping station. Lately the holding tank is getting a bit smelly and I was looking for a way to do a flush of the holding tank. Anyone have any ideas? Also, any recommendations on the best holding tank deodorizer to keep the holding tank from getting funky?

As a flush...

Try this.

Empty the tank of course. Rinse 2-3 times with fresh water, then empty.

Then add about 1/4 tank water and maybe 1/2 cup of tide...then take your boat out for a nice run. Slosh around the mixture....let is sit maybe 4 hours min. Then empty and flush a few more times with fresh water.

As for deodorizer..it really depends how well your tank breaths. I do not use the smelly chemics, but I use odor-loss. It is basically a bacteria agent that feeds on the waste and keeps everything tidy. But your tank has to have a good vent. If your tank is sealed, I htink you are forced to use the smelly blue stuff. Hope this help!

My tank is 100% stink free.

I find the orange citrus tank products (TST Orange power) do a remarkable job killing odors. I suggest you try them. I get mine at walmart & will never go back to blue stuff.
