1999 41PC breaker panel

Hey guys,

I am missing this piece on my breaker panel and it looks like someone "jimmy-rigged" this double breaker in there before I got the boat last year. I assume it's a second 30 amp breaker switch like the one above in the picture since I have twin 30amp cords coming out (that go into a 2:1 splitter with a single 50amp plug). Does anyone know where I can buy this panel cover, if so, I have been struggling to find it. The red arrow in the picture points to where this breaker is (behind the stern seat compartment). And could someone post a picture of what theirs looks like if possible? Thanks!

That is about the best jury rigging I've ever seen. Shorepower 2 should be identical to shorepower 1. Looks like the breaker went bad at some point and the wrong breaker was installed. You may have to have a custom cover made locally but I highly recommend installing the correct breaker. Also, if there is a 50 amp plug on the exterior, the complete assembly should be rated at 50 amp, not 30. I strongly suggest that you have an electrician look at this and put it back to the way it was designed. There are too many questions as to why or how, but it is not safe and should be addressed.

Yes, that is the wrong breaker. You need a double pole breaker. Not a 30 that has 2 separate breakers in it. It would be easy enough to take some 1/4” black starboard and make a new panel for the proper breaker. Send Formula an email and thet can send you the specs for the correct breaker. The only problem will be that Formula used oversized wire for 30 amps and the connectors are a bit tough to get onto the wire.

Thank you guys for your input. What do your 41 PC's have for shore power setup? My main panel is 120V AC and the breaker trips every week or so on the 50 amp plug. This now makes total sense since it's completely fabricated not to factory spec apparently! Do you guys also have twin 30 amps?

that is quite the jimmy-rigging! Once a week trip event? This might be tough but try to narrow down which of the two 30A cords and which loads from the AC panel maybe causing the 50A breaker to trip. I have found many issues with older AC units and hot water heaters with electrical insulation failures to trip the shore power's GFCI or GFPE circuit breaker as they are very sensitive to milli-amp ground leakage.

Also that jury rig-cobbled 2 single pole breakers could very well be the culprit. Although it is a hack it is not protected from the elements and could have some corrosion bridging the AC hot and the neutral causing milli-amp leakage enough to trip the breaker. I have seen this before too.

Best to fix that issue first before digging into failed loads..
