2001/02 37/40 PC boat test results

I think boattest shows about 1.3 mpg which I think is a little too optomistic, probably closer to a little over 1 mpg. You won't be worrying about planing with the torque of the diesels. Diesels require maintenance for sure just like any other engine, for me the cost of owning diesels has been...

    Replacement Canvas

You may want to check with Ameritex again. I bought canvas from them in January and their website says they are taking orders. They shipped my order in about 2 weeks.

    40 PC Underwater LED Lights

Here are a few pictures. I added a circuit breaker under the sink, it's still labeled ACC, then I added a fuse block next to the generator and mounted the Lumitec POCO controller next to it and wired it all together. I also ran cat6 from the controller to a network switch inside the cabin and...

    40 PC Underwater LED Lights

I'm adding Seablaze X2 lights to my 40 PC. I was hoping for some input on a few questions. I'm planning on 3 lights. Do you think this is sufficient? Is the angle of the transom an issue? I was thinking about getting some shims made up so the lights shine straight back and are not angled...

    40 PC Anchor Washdown

Does anyone have a picture of the anchor washdown setup on a 40 PC? I'm looking to add one to my 40PC, it would be good to see how Formula did it to help with installation. Thanks in advance.

    Replace Cabinet Veneers

Ebel Woodworking can make new doors or put new skins on them. I replaced mine with real wood veneer, if I remember correctly I did walnut with a cherry finish (maybe the other way around). I was looking for a darker red finish. It's a little darker than it looks in the attached picture.

    Rudder Removal

My port side rudder is bound up and I'm trying to remove it to diagnose the problem. I managed to get the tiller arm off, the bearing below it and the nuts off the rudder port. The problem I'm having is that I can't get it to come out. I've tried heat and to pry on it from below with a 2 x 4...

    VDO Gauge Repair

Just in case anyone is having the same issue with their VDO tach not showing hours I was able to get mine repaired by Nichols Speedometer in North Carolina. I shipped them to them and they had 2 tachs repaired, replaced a lens on one and a lens on my volt meter and had them in the mail the next...

    40 PC Neutral Safety Switch

I have Yanmar diesels and my port side neutral safety switch is acting up. Its taking more and more wiggling of the shifter to get the boat to start. Does anyone know where it's located? I was assuming at the shifter but after a little bit of research it looks like ZF may have a switch in...

    Swim Platform Not Bonded?

I have a 40 PC and the swim platform is not bonded and has no zincs. I've replaced the support arms on the platform already and they are corroding pretty quickly. Does anyone know a reason the platform shouldn't be bonded? I was thinking about bonding the swim platform to the rest of the...

    Flip up bow cushion

Does anyone have pictures of how the flip up bow cushions work? Mine do not flip up and need to be replaced, I'm thinking about trying to make them flip up while I'm at it. Nate

Seawater in Turbo - Yanmar 6L2A

As part of my winterizing I decided to pull the exhaust and check the turbo's and I found some water in there, more like condensation but there is some corrosion inside the turbo. I'm on boatdiesel and I am familiar with the problems this can cause. Has anyone experienced this? A custom...

    Removed TV in Galley 40PC

It's taken me most of the winter but I've finally completed the removal of my TV in the galley and I installed new shelving and doors. I had some custom doors and a header made and sent them to Ebel woodworking to be laminated. I made a a box with the shelves and mounted one door on that and...
