Stringers

I have a 1987 chaparral 198c i found the gas tanks was leaking and the stringers around the tank are rotten i cut them out and add a wider has tanks will i have and problems with those parts of the stringers missing ?

The only problem that you will have is that the boat will essentially collapse and fold in half where the stringers were removed. The new fuel tank may rupture in the process.

Other than that, you should not have any further problems. BTW - wear a PFD and don't take any cherish family members with you on the boat.
