Prop Q

Yep. Ones a 1995 and the others a 2002.
My local Merc mechanic (and shrink wrapper) sez I should be ok as long as I don't get crazy. I had a FourWinns Liberator with a 540 and  an OMC King Cobra for 3 years and no problems. That engine dynoed at 638 hp and 710 ft lbs torque. Sold it in 2000 when I got my Formula and still see the guy around and it's still going strong , only I replaced the original 460 before I sold it. But the drive's hanging in there.

My boat originally had 23 mirages brand new.  It now has 23 cleavers on it(that is what was on it when i bought it) . I am only running 4200 at WOT if i trim up the rpms go up but the boat does not go any faster. My thought was to prop it mor like MOPWER's setup "cruise speed" I figure a four blade in a 22 to 21 pitch would get me to 4600 to 4800 and my cruise speed would be better. I think the cleavers are blowing out on me. I'm i on the right track here?

If your RPMs are going up and the speed isn't , your losing your bite on the water. My buddys 242LS/ 502 mag would do that with a Mirage. The Bravo will allow him to trim higher and get more drive out of the water for less drag.

In your opinion cal should i go for the bravo 3 or 4 blade?

Mirages are 3 blade...Bravos are 4 blade. If possible I'd try 22" bravos. 4200 WOT is kinda low , I'm sure your not getting all that you can both speed wise and mph because you're somewhat lugging your engines.
Cleavers look neat sitting on a trailer but they generally suck for acceleration and can be difficult to get the boat to plane. The work much better on lighter , flatter bottomed boats. There was a guy at my primary marina last season who had a 272/Alpha/350s that was running 4 blade hydromotives. Ask around for some to borrow before you buy , it's a whole lot cheaper ;)
It's ashame you live so far and it December. I have a pair of fresh 23 Mirages you could try for a baseline. Cleavers generally suck on deep Vs

MOPOWER That was my thought. I have the drives running so deep to get bite i trim up at 4200 and the motor revs and i go the same speed or less :( I may have to give you a call in the spring and try the mirages thankS CB 8)

Something is wrong or you're doing something wrong because my stock 330s would turn 25 mirages 40/41 mph at 3000 thru 1.5 gears. You have 1.36 gears so you should be going even faster. You over timming like Car Biz perhaps???

Cal, my 242 had three blade Bravos when I bought it. I remember it distinctly, because the ad said it had Bravo drives. When I looked at it, it was the Bravo props they were reading.

That's news to me ??? ???. I have never seen a 3 blade Bravo. Even looking up props sizes and numbers ,never seen one listed. Not saying your wrong Joe. Perhaps they where very early Bravos and have since been discontinued ???

I'll see if I can find a picture of them, but I think they were on the old computer. I saved all the pictures from the old pc on a disc, but I can't get the new pc to read the disc. :(

Not that I doubt you , but it sure would be interesting to see. I'll have to check with my Merc mechanic friend. He's been doing this for 20 years and knows his chit. Maybe he can set me straight

i have a littel film and i saw on the plotter, 2800 rpm's and did 29.6 mph. schould i go better with 26 bravo?

If i am not too heavy i can turn the engine's about 5000/ 5050 rpm's i have to trim than all the way up.

Sounds like either 24" Bravos or 26" labbed Bravos. General rule of thumb is when you go from 3 to 4 blades , you go down one size in pitch. My buddy who was running a 23 Mirage tried a stock 22 Bravo and a labbed 24" and made out better with the 24
