open exhaust on 206ls

I have an 86 206ls, i want to change it to an open exhaust. it looks as though i could go stright out the back right above the swim platform. anyone done this or see any issues? i would have to cap off the original going to the outdrive i assume? I would really like to do a captains call, putting in an electronic cutout to stitch from above to below. any help/tips would be appreciated

Above with captain's call if you boat near shore, or mufflers, but if you use it for water sports I think being able to switch to below would be good.
Any pics showing platform and transom?

I don't know what year your 206 is, but in 85 and 86 the 206 exhaust went through the hull as you describe. Mine is an 86 and has it. You may want to look on formulas website under the section titled vintage formulas, then check out the brochures on the 85 and 86. If you need detailed pics, I have my exhaust removed right now and would be glad to help. I have most of my engine out and will soon have the swim platform off also. I'm in the middle of a major overhaul of my 206. Good luck with your exhaust!
