"One Point Fill"

At least this is what I think Formula calls it...

My buddy has a 2006 or 2005 34PC that has a solenoid setup that allows him to fill his water tank from the dockside water connection on his transom...actually it a requirement since he has no deckfill for the water. I have always thought that would be a lot more convenient then dragging a hose out to the bow of my boat and then sitting there holding the hose as it fills so this weekend I finally got around to making my own version with a few Whale Quick Connect fittings and tubing. In place of the electrical components that Formula specs for this I just simply added in a manual valve that I turn on to let the tank fill and then turn it off once the tank is filled...$30 in parts versus the rough estimate of $800-1000 to install the Formula version.

I highly recommend this mod.

Do you happen to have the layout of how you did this...I trying figuring this out and was quickly overwhelmed.

Just be careful not to overfill the tank!! the factory one point fill has a float switch in the water tank to turn the valve off automatically when its filled.

@TooFast...it was easy actually. I just added 2 Tees to the inlet and outlet sides of the pump behind the fridge and plumbed in a ball valve using some elbows to bring the valve to a spot just behind the gauge under the sink.

kinda looks like this:

+--@--+
| |
---------+--^--+--------
{}

where + are Ts or elbows, @ is the valve and ^ is the pump
{}

Parts list:
10 - WX7152B Tube 15mm Blue foot. Sku: WHAWX7152B
6 - WX1503B Equal Elbow 15mm Sku: WHAWX1503B
2 - WX1521B Stem Tee 15mm Sku: WHAWX1521B
8 - WX1565B Tube Mounting Clip 15mm Sku: WHAWX1565B
1 - WX1574B Shut Off Valve 15mm Sku: WHAWX1574B

I'll have to post pics next weekend when I get down to the boat.

As for overfilling...I intend to watch over this as it fills but I am assuming that if I should lose focus for some reason that the water would simply go up and out through the overflow/vent that's already plumbed into the line just below the deckfill. Why wouldn't it?

Yes it should go out the vent. but when you overfill with the deck fill, it comes out there also. so the vent may not be enought relief of pressure.

Understood...In any case I rarely ever need a full tank so as long as I don't let it run more than 2-3 minutes I should have enough water for most trips without stressing the system. I will also probably add a switch in the line for the pump so that I can power on the guage and not run the pump while it fills so I can see the current level without constantly having to flip the breaker on and off as I did the first time.

Now it is time for my silly question...

Looks like you have way more elbows than required...looks like you need 2 and you have listed 6?

Am I missed something?

In order to neatly bring the valve to a position right behind the tank gauge (where it can easily be reached and utilized) I used a more than a few elbows. If I would have been ok leaving the valve against the bulkhead I could have used less plumbing and fittings.

Ok gotcha...I was just referencing your diagram...it all makes perfect sense!

This is on my list of project for sure!

I got it done this weekend, Works great. Pressure is regulated coming in and just flows out the overflow.
I cheated a little used the cold water line to sink and ran to the fill without moving the fridge.
1 and a 1/2 hours counting clean up. And i work slow. LOL

Thanks

Added Note: Make sure you put turn off valve in line with the arrow the right way. ( It does not shut off completly and allows the pump to run evey 2 min. )

What does not shut off and "put tune off". What u mean here?

oops. It's been a while.

Glad someone else could benefit from this. This is still my favorite mod to my boat. Internal LED lighting is up next.

Sounds like a great mod, but at this time, I leave my anchor wash spray set up hanging in the rode compartment. So when I need to fill the fresh tank, I just flip the hold open lever on the sprayer and sit it in the deck fill until the vent starts to spit. Granted, I still have to go out on the bow and open the deck fill, but with a beer or cocktail in hand, I get to enjoy the view. ;D

I did not know the anchor wash drew from the fresh water supply.
I plan on adding but i will draw from the lake as in my rear washdown.

Mine does. The only lake water I take in is geny and AC. Everything else is fresh.

It's not bad when you have the time but often my 'fill the tank time' coincides with clean the boat time. This way I can flip the switch and leave it until I start to see water coming out of the overflow.
