Oil Drain Kits

I just brought and installed two oil drain kits on my 5.7L Mercruisers. It was basically two right angle brass fittings and a 42" fuel hose that screwed into the right angle fitting. It honestly was the biggest pain in the ass to get under the motor and install it but it was be worth it for the next seasons to come. I'll get a good clean drain from the bottom of the pan rather than pumping it from the dipstick. My locate boating supply said they discontinued them. I brought them for $30 a piece from www.boatsandmotorssunlimited.com. Make sure you pull your plug and check the threads before you purchase the kits.

My 34 came with the hoses on the pans. i got the fittings and changed my oil changer bucket to fit the hoses on the pan and fit the dip stick fitting. Just screw on what ever adapter i need to fit.

The only problem with using the drain hoses out the drain plug, is the boat must be out of the water, and it takes a very long time for all the oil to drain.
Castines has the right idea. utilize the hoses to fit your oil change pump, or install an oil change system.

actually you can use the drain lines while in the water.

all I do is use my extractor pump with a fitting I made and a little hose clamp.

I warm the engines...grab the end of the hose...hold it high...take off "plug" ,, slip the connector on, tighten it up and then use the sucker to drain away!

I use to do it the exact same way on my 34. Now I put in an oil change system. Does both motors transmissions and generator. Just need 2 empty 5 gallon buckets and turn a few valves. To fill motors ( which takes 5 gallons each) just stick hose in 5 gal bucket of oil and pump it in. Couldn't be easier.

I've thought about that...how difficult was the install job?
Do you remember what model you bought?

It installs pretty easy. The hardest part is probably accessing the motor drain plug. Which you have already done. I have a reverso pump with 5 ports.

I was also thinking of that system too.Where did you mount the pump?Did you do the install yourself and how long did it take?

The pump is pretty small and it can go any where it fits in the engine room as long as you can route the hoses to it. When I bought the boat it was already installed to the motors and gen. All I had to do was hook up the transmissions. It is great to have especially with diesels since each motor holds 5 gallons of oil.
