Can any one help identify what are the round white plastic covers are for, something to do with stock depth finder. Also gray metal blocks I assume these are fresh water pick ups? Thanks.

Only speculation here- the white caps I?d guess underwater lights???
The metal blocks may be sacrificial anodes?

I sure thought I saw water coming from the bottom of those the last time I had the motor running, any ideas what the round plastic covers are? One is a type of screen and one looks like a light. Thanks.

I think the ones in first pic was link the first Gen anode system. Its just a plastic cover over the electrode.
The second pic are present day Mercathode.

Seeing water continue to come out I would check the transom on the inside to see if its getting soft. Most folks install these by drilling a hole, and use some kind of sealant. Over time the sealant starts to leak and there goes the transom.

Another note about what I'm seeing. Most all bottom paints have copper in it. The copper should not come into contact with the aluminum outdrive. There should be a small space all around it. Without it the Mercathode doesn't work correctly and the drive can be eaten up faster.

Im trying to idnentify the two large aluminum pieces that are mounted on the transom, forgive my ignorance.

Those are sacrificial anodes which should be bonded to the boats grounding system. They should erode to help save the drives. The anodes on either sides should be connected to the Mercathode system and produce apposing current. They don't erode they produce current. Only way to know if the boat is protected is with a special probe and digital meter

They might be low water pick ups for that model. Can you look inside the engine compartment and see if there are hoses going to a sea strainer?

Yes thats exactly what they are, there are two valve handles in back of motors that open and close these as well. Thanks.
