drive shower modification

I bought 2 new drive showers for my 303 SR1 and I have a problem now with the clearance below the swim deck. The silent thunder box hits the shower. I purchased Rex marine showers. They work awesome from what I have been told. I do run longer distances and feel I need them. I don't know If I should modify the exhaust box or set the tailer trim stop lower or sell them and forget about it. I would appreciate any ideas are suggestions. I have considered cutting holes and putting in bowls or some kind of box to allow for the clearance. I have thought about new exhaust mufflers to allow for the clearance of the drives.

I have heard that if you cut the box, it does not make that much difference in sound. not sure if that helps.

I bought some drive showers on e bay for $60.00 each and they are tucked in tight to the top of the drive. Not sure how high yours are but it may be another way out.

In the 80's when Formula was putting the old 575 Speed masters in the 357 SR1 we did a lot of hole cutting in the Thunder box. We would use 6 inch inspection plates so they could be removed easy. This would actually let the boat breath better and would run faster. If I were you I would probably look for a differant drive shower so you don't ruin the integrity of your thunder box. Although I really don't know how sold you are on the showers you have. Either way would work for me.

Do you have any pics?
That could help on the visual of how much clearance, drive height, exaust mufflers etc etc.
