A/c fuel smell

I have a 1990 29 PC and when I run the A/C unit I get what appears to be a fuel smell. Just wandering if anyone else has had this issue and how to correct it?? This happens when just on shore power or when engines are running.

Thanks to anyone with advise!!

My formula does not do that (also a 29PC), but I had an old Chris Craft that did the same thing, and it was not fuel, it was fungus in the AC coils. Smelled just like raw gas, but was not. Had to clean/ disinfect the ac coils several times.
No gas smell anywhere in the boat, engine room, or cabin even after long periods of being closed up, but turn on the air and the cabin had that odor.
But, that does not mean that you have the same issue. Always start with checking for gas smell in the engine compartment, then the aft cabin. The ac could be bringing in gas fumes from the tank / generator area, which is right on the other side of the aft cabin bulkhead. The fuel fill hoses can emit a gas smell, and they are very close to the ac unit. If you cant smell gas anywhere else ever, and any other time except when running the ac, it could be the same issue I had.
