271 Fastech in Cape Coral

First post for me after lurking for time. Moved to SE Cape Coral in January. Had a 1990s Fountain Fever 27 years ago. Buying a 2000 Formula 271 Fastech tomorrow. Entire boat is original and bone stock. I would qualify it as mint and exceptionally well maintained.

As I posted in OSO: "After so many years not owning or driving a boat I am a bit nervous about maneuvering the 271 in and out of the lift, around the canals, and in the channel-marker-crazyness there seems to exist everywhere around here. Need to get everything from lines to charts and NAV before I'll splash, but I'll get there soon. Normally I would have floated around on my neighbors' boats and at least have some ideas, but thanks to Covid Krazystan times, I am on my own. Just me, an iPad w/Nav apps, and perhaps a first-time-in-a-boat lady friend to help me keep the bow from hitting anything... There is a chance that I'll survive without a scratch, small, but it is possible..."

Lots to learn about Formulas as I was hunting for a Sunsation 288 or Fountain 29 when the 271 screamed at me. Maybe it is better to go a bit slower, but steadier, after so many years out of the water...

Would be great to meet local Formula owners soon. And perhaps most importantly, THANK YOU! As the discussions in this Formula-specific forum helped as I tried to make a decision on what to buy...

Never approach the dock faster than you want to hit it. And if you are not aligned correctly, back off and try again. Congratulations!

Thank you Alec. Words of wisdom from all. Especially at the house given that missing the boat lift means meeting a concrete seawall that does not look friendly at all from the water....

Planning to finally splash and welcome her to the lift tomorrow. Slight detail I had overlooked... the trailer :-// Any recommendations on a cheap place to keep it? I will barely use the thing so I'd say anywhere within abt 30 minute drive from the Cape would work.
