Hello Formula Owners. My name is Mike and I "lake" in Arkansas at Greers Ferry Lake. I currently own a 05 Glastron GX255BR with a Merc 496 MAG (375 HP)/Bravo III setup. Boat weighs 4600 lbs so obviously the performance/weight ratio is excellent. Top speed is 60 mph on GPS. That being said, the fit/finish is nowhere near a Formula boat so I am considering a used 240 to 270 BR from Formula. I am basing my decision to "upgrade" to a Formula based on tons of comments from owners. The current "culture" at my lake is almost everyone owns a Cobalt. Cobalts here Cobalts there Cobalts everywhere. Come to think of it, I do not believe I have ever seen a Formula on the water here. I understand Cobalt and Formula are the top dogs here and Formula is better suited for light offshore use. I just like the looks of the Formula better + I want something noone else seems to be driving around in here.
Performance has always been a primary factor in my boat buying decisions. I also understand these boats are heavier (yes I know the #s) so they need more power to produce better performance results.
I am looking for performance numbers for the following boat/engine combos:
1. 240 BR with a 375/380 HP engine (whether Merc/Volvo/Ilmore)
2. 270 BR with a 375/380 HP engine (whether Merc/Volvo/Ilmore)
3. 270 BR with a Ilmore MV8/7.4L (483HP) One Drive.
I am "assuming" a 240 BR with a Ilmore MV8 would be rare or this combination not available on a 240.
Boat owners with experience on these model types comments welcome.
Thanks.
